Moon in the houses

Start with the house question that brought you here, then check sign, rulership and other chart factors.

What changes from house to house?

In Jyotish, Moon signifies receptivity, the mind and responsiveness. The occupied house identifies where these qualities operate. Phase, dignity, dispositor and the occupied-house lord determine whether responsiveness becomes useful adaptation or difficulty sustaining a direction. Maternal and domestic readings require the fourth lord as well as the Moon.

The house and aspect framework supplies the structure; read the traditional indications through dignity, lordship, conjunctions and timing to judge their strength.

What else matters in this chart?

The occupied house is only one part of a reading. Verify birth time and Lagna, identify the house lord and Moon’s sign and dispositor, and check rulership and conjunctions. In a common Parashari convention, Moon casts a seventh aspect from its position. An aspect carries the planet’s influence into the receiving house. Check that house’s lord and occupants to judge whether it can use the support or resist the pressure. Houses and ascendant give the basic map; dignity and combustion are separate technical questions, not outcome scores.

Compare Moon with another graha in the same house to see the difference: Sun in the tenth asks about authority where Moon in the tenth asks about change. The Jyotish foundations explain how these factors combine in a judgment.
