Reading path

Jyotish foundations

Learn the vocabulary in sequence, then use it to build a fuller judgment of the horoscope. A single placement is only one layer; signs, lords, dignity, aspects, conjunctions and timing determine how strongly an indication can manifest.

Use exaltation with checked strength examples to distinguish sign dignity, Uchcha Bala and the house requirements of a named yoga.

Start with the chart

  1. Introduction to Vedic astrology sketches the chart and the tradition in which it is interpreted.
  2. The planets in Jyotish introduces the grahas as traditional symbols.
  3. The ascendant and its houses explains the twelve-house frame and the importance of a reliable birth time.
  4. Angular houses and cadent houses show how houses are grouped; these are reference definitions, not verdicts on strength.
  5. Planetary friendships adds a directional table and an example of natural and temporary relationships.

  6. Calculate graha drishti to separate directed planetary aspects, natal destinations and the receiving house’s lord.

For distinctions often mistaken for verdicts, read benefic and malefic classifications, debilitation and Neecha Bhanga and the combustion reference. The labels describe different traditional chart rules and cannot substitute for a full reading or real-world evidence.

Nakshatras introduce another division of the zodiac. Start with the question that matters to you, and do not infer a person’s fate from one component.

Compare a house across different grahas

Several existing placements are best read together to see why a house topic and a planet’s symbolism should not collapse into one prediction:
